Blue Dark and in the Shape of Me is an immersive projection installation using light, screen, silk, wool, and the body as a sight desirous grief. Blue, the digital manifestation of this piece, is a self-described Emissary of Misery. She recounts Lana Del Rey’s debut studio album Born to Die (2012), made the same year of the “2012 Phenomenon” — a collection of various apocalyptic fantasies that were prophesied to occur at the end of Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. These two vantage points serve as the foundation for the work, linking the construction of community in the digital age to an over-identification with pain and misery.
